Hello and welcome to anybody reading this who has found their way to my blog. I can only assume that, since you are reading the “About” page, that you are curious to learn more about myself and / or the purpose of this blog.
I graduated from a small college in central Virginia in May 2016 with a Bachelor’s in economics, with a dual-minor in both Chinese studies and religious studies. I am interested in going back to school whenever I can and it is one of my life goals to be able to sustain a lifetime of learning. (Of course, there are many more ways to learn than simply sitting in class).
In terms of work, I love to keep myself busy. One thing I do that I find to be the most rewarding is working as a tutor. I primarly teach writing, but I also help students with standardized test prep (ACT, SAT, ASVAB, Regents), mathematics, and basic computer applications. I have also been an Amway IBO since 2013. Something I really enjoy having my own business through Amway is the different kinds of people I get to meet and interact with. My goal here is to help make peoples’ lives easier with Amway’s products. Since graduation I have been working in the grocery business, working 50 hours per week on top of a long commute.
My hobbies include knitting and crocheting (which I have devoted a second blog to), reading, writing, and video games. My favorite competitive game – as you probably have guessed if you skimmed through my posts – is League of Legends. I occasionally play some DoTA 2, but my focus is on League because that is what all of my friends play and how we “hang out” when we’re spread across five states.
A lifelong goal that I’ve had is to become a published author, which leads to the main purpose of this blog – to write. One of the things I try to impress upon my students is that one must write as often as they can in order to become a better writer. My goal at the beginning of 2016 was to publish a post on here every day, with dubious results (sometimes life gets in the way and you need to let it happen). If I cannot find the time or energy to make a post on here, then I do my best to at least be writing elsewhere – be it a short story, an idea for a chapter, or a scene from the novel simply referred to as Pet Project (as it currently has no name).
In this blog you will find posts about adventures traveling, a particularly great (or terrible) game of League of Legends I had, a new book / game I bought, new recipe I wanted to try, etc. This is just a general life blog, or online journal I guess you might say. I’m not trying to appeal to everybody here by writing and rambling about so many different things – I am trying to improve my writing, gather my thoughts, search for feedback on [Q], and give my family and besties a way to check up on me when we haven’t spoken for a while.
